The 5 Alarm Family

What started as a dream…

for Brewmaster Jason Peterson came to fruition while sharing his great craft with fellow firefighters Jim Boehmer, Ross Hanson, and Nathan Ostrander.  On July 6, 2017, the four volunteer fireman purchased their current location and feverishly began a complete renovation of the property. This property was the site of the 1961 fire known in Lake Mills as the Lake Mills Main Street fire. 

Less than 5 months after purchasing the building they opened their doors and welcomed craft beer enthusiasts from around the midwest for a grand opening on Thanksgiving weekend.  They started as a tap house but shortly after Brewmaster Peterson released his first 4 beers for customers. They never looked back and have now increased the number of beers they serve that carry the 5 Alarm label.5 Alarm Brewing Company pays tribute to firefighters from Lake Mills as well as across the country. 

Inside you will find pictures of local firefighters, fire scenes, antique fire equipment, turnout gear as well as other firefighting related items.  Included is a wall with an Iowa map where firefighters can place their department’s patch and be recognized. The wall currently includes patches from around the United States and has even included batches from around the world.

Our mission at 5 Alarm Brewing Company is to give our community a place to meet with old friends and make new ones all while enjoying great craft beer, wine, and locally crafted root beer.  Whether you’re a craft beer enthusiast, firefighter, or just stopping in to check out the memorabilia, we feel we have something for everyone to enjoy at 5 Alarm Brewing Company.
